No Hablo Espanol!!

Have you wondered where I have been? South of the border! Jeff & I got back last night from celebrating our 10 year anniversary (which is actually in May) in Los Cabos, Mexico! We had a fabulous relaxing fun time and here are just a FEW of the 80+ photos I took which I will not bore you with today. Guess what, when word gets out that you are celebrating something, the kind folks in Mexico take notice! This was after dinner on our first night at Edith’s (sounds like E-deets) in Cabo San Lucas. These guys came out of nowhere, sung a song for us, threw some sort of margarita-ish type shot down our throats, shook our heads and wiped our mouthes clean. Sound scary? We thought it was quite hilarious! The food was amazing. Edith is a smart woman! She also owns The Office which is where we ate Saturday night and was even more fun and delicious (pics later).

This was us on our way to check out and head to the airport yesterday (insert sad face). We stayed at The Westin which was fabulous. Highly recommend it, as it was recommended to us by several friends. Please excuse Jeff’s dorky backpack!

I ate enough guacamole and pico de gallo for everyone who might be reading this and 2 of their best friends. It was YUMMY! The food there was excellent (except for 2 minor meals which were not great for various reasons). Lots of great seafood and margaritas for days.

This was the beautiful view from our 7th floor balcony. We slept with our door open every night, saw several WHALES out in the water and even saw a Sea Lion one day too. The water was cold and too rough to get in, but the view was amazing and the pools weren’t too shabby! We stayed in the resort hotel, but what you see in this pic to the left are condo type time shares. They looked very mexican-y.

I have tons of pictures and will post a few here & there. We got back last night and guess what folks, we now move on to the next phase of our crazy April, which would be MOVING WEEK! I took a load of my fragile pictures over earlier today as well as a load of stuff I got at Target. We’ll take another load this evening and keep doing so all week. The moving truck comes Saturday, but we will hopefully move quite a bit before then (clothes, my sewing stuff, etc). I’m so so sad to be leaving this neighborhood, our friends that live here, our carpool, and this house that we’ve lived in for 9 years. All 3 of my precious children were born and came home to this house. It holds lots of memories! But, I’m excited about our cute little rental house (aka our “summer home”) and also praying hard for our next house which we hope to find over the next couple of months. Yes, moving twice, but we want to take our time and find the perfect home!

Back to work…. on something…. not sure whether to unpack, pack, take a nap, load up the car, stuff Easter eggs or wash more clothes….

T minus 2 weeks!

Operation Moving Sale was a success! This picture is deceiving ~ way more junk lined the driveway on each side. So glad to get rid of all the stuff! This was not all mine either ~ a couple of friends joined in too. The garage door opened at 6:00 am, in the dark, and there was a car already waiting and another one pulled up 2 seconds later. I LOVE a good yard sale! Always entertaining. I took a load to Goodwill Monday. Success!

Here is where we are now ~ SALE PENDING!! Finally! We survived the inspection, repairs, appraisal and everything else. All set to close on April 22nd! Yep folks, that is 2 weeks from TOMORROW. Do you think a single picture is off the wall or a single book is packed in a box? NOPE! I think I am in denial. It’s kind of like when you have a mound of monogramming to do. If you’re like me you put it off until you can’t put it off no more. I guess when the moving truck pulls up I’ll realize we really ARE moving! Not sure if I updated that we ARE moving in to a rental house for a few months. We’re calling it our “summer home”! That’ll buy us some time as we search for our perfect new home (with a perfect sewing room)!

This week we traveled to Augusta, GA to THE MASTERS practice round on Tuesday, which was the day after the tornadic weather conditions that came through AL and GA on Monday night. It was C-O-L-D folks! Winds 20+ MPH too. I schlepped around in rain boots for a good 6-7 hours as we walked the entire golf course most of the day. It was AWESOME!! I’m not a HUGE golf fan, but the Hubs is, so it was fun to experience this with him and 2 of our close friends! When we left we spotted JOHN DALY seen below with some Juicy chick (her sweatpants had JUICY written across the back and she kept getting in the way of my picture). I guess since ole JD is broke and can’t play major tournaments anymore, he is selling stuff outside of Augusta National the week of the Masters!

Below, Tiger of course. He didn’t practice much Tuesday, but I was able to zoom in and get a few pics of him hitting some balls. I’m not a big fan of Tiger’s but he is famous so I felt like I needed to capture the moment!

This is my favorite picture! Jeff would have to tell you who all these people are…

This was the funnest part of the course – on one hole the players are asked by the crowd to skip a golf ball across the water on to the green. Most did it until they made it and were boo-ed if they missed. This was Sergio on the right.

Not sure who all these folks were ~ again, Jeff would know…

More Sergio. I don’t think Sergio is that great anymore but I DO know him and he was the first golfer we saw.

I can now stomach watching The Masters on TV all weekend with Jeff! I’m pretty sure the girl above right here in the pink will hate that I got a picture of her sticking her tongue out. OOPS! It really was a beautiful golf course. Great egg salad sandwiches too!

Did I mention I haven’t packed the first thing?? Better go do SOMETHING productive. I just monogrammed 2 towels for someone (even though I’m technically “off” work). I also have new designs to sample for Applique Cafe and will get to those eventually!

P.S. on the way to and fro Augusta I picked monograms out of 5 dresses/tops to re-monogram for Mallory. I took some pictures and will work on a blog post about it soon!

Work-a-thon 2011!

Since we signed the contract on our house yesterday I instituted an immediate work-a-thon to get my customer work out of the way (so that I could then move on to the next stress)!! I think I did 8 shirts today and 6 – 8 yesterday. I’m down to 12 or 13 I think and hope to get them all done in the next day or two. We will then focus on WHERE IN THE HAY ARE WE MOVING? So, next week we will either have a house we will hopefully move in to when we close on April 22 (out of here by April 25), or we may do the apartment scene (for as few months as possible) until we can find something. We really don’t want to do that, but don’t want to just buy something out of panic! We have a house in mind we want to buy, but the owners are house shopping this weekend one last time and we will find out Sunday if they are going to sell to us. My house was cleaned today so I got kinda sad and wondered if we were doing the right thing! I know we are, but still get a little seller’s remorse!! My kids are running around like crazy right now (at 8:42 pm) so I KNOW we’re doing the right thing. Sometimes my house gets very very very small!!

Here is a shirt I did today, and THE HOOP GOT ME!! It happens once in a blue moon where the hoop is just too tight, and when it snapped in place I was questioning whether or not I made a hole. I went ahead with the shirt and sure enough, when I unhooped… HOLE! Luckily my customer just happened to be going to Target today and she was able to bring me another one to do while she waited. It happens! 🙁 On the new one I also put the name underneath and it showed up better, so it all worked out! These are the Cherokee girl toddler tees from Target and they are really cute! BTW I tried to fabric glue the hole to give to my customer so her daughter could at least wear it in the back yard, but somehow got HNBL on the back of the shirt, so it ended up in the trash!

Just a closeup of the AC Butterfly I did to match a bubblegum pink skort. My customer brought me all kinds of cute cotton plain (probably inexpensive) skorts to match. I need to go get some for Mallory because the “outfits” all turned out so cute with the applique tees! I believe they came from Walmart, Target and Kohls.

Here is the AC Tiara Frog which is going with a hot pink skort.

Here are all the tees (with matching skorts) I did for Madeline! AC Flower in the middle!

And here are all the tees I did for Lucy! AC Tiara, Simple Bunny and Mermaid! My customer mentioned hot pink hair for the mermaid and I wasn’t so sure about it, but I love how it turned out with the dot fabric! Who says mermaids are blond or brunette!

Lastly I did these tanks to match the Kohl’s skorts. The left one is light pink and I used the zig zag double circle; petal patch on the right. I get asked a lot what the petal patch font is and it is from Embroidery Arts ~ Empire. It’s a little more expensive than some websites, but it is one of my go-to fonts. It stitches perfectly every time! The sun was shining a little too bright!

Check out Whimsical Fabrics on Facebook ~ they have an Etsy store and have some really cute Riley Blake fabrics. You can convo them for smaller amounts (less than 1 yard)! I love the Riley Blake Quite Contrary fabrics, and there is also a CUTE Sugar & Spice green & pink striped fabric that I’ve never seen. They are trying to reach 1,000 fans so if you “like” them, tell them AC sent you! It’s a tight race between me and Applique Alley as to who can send the most fans! 🙂

I’m working on my Linens & Boxwoods post. I got the pictures we took Monday and they are fabulous! Here is a sneak peak of one…

You may be wondering why we had a photo shoot of us drinking coffee? I will explain when I post! L&B is also doing a post on me and Applique Cafe, so I will link that one in too! It’ll all make more sense! 😉 Until then you can wonder!! The fabulous pictures were taken by Grace. She is a miracle worker! She is honestly fabulous and so artistic!!

Tomorrow is a new day! Amie & I are meeting for coffee in the morning and we are also looking at 2 houses (me & Jeff, that is) after school. Have a great weekend and be on the lookout for my next post!
