Girls only!

This past weekend I went on a (very long awaited) girl’s trip to Charleston, SC. We’ve been talking about this trip for YEARS, and this year we finally made it happen! It was SO. MUCH. FUN!! 7 of us rode 8+ hours there and back in a Suburban together. No radio the whole way there ~ just a lot of talking and a whole lotta’ laughing! A couple of the girls were my Phi Mu pledge sisters in 1993 and the others I have known since college as well and we had a BLAST! I found a cute condo on VRBO in Folly Beach and this was our back porch view.

Here are “the girls”!! One of the 8 lives in Charleston, so we actually visited there to see her and this was after brunch at her house before we headed downtown to go shopping!

Of course we visited the Markets downtown. I didn’t buy a basket ($$$) but I did sneak a picture of this sweet lady making one. Before we hit the market we hit a HUGE Forever 21 store that just opened in an old Saks building in January. It was PACKED and we were in HEAVEN!!

This was a shot going across the bridge heading downtown.

Here is where the Market starts on Meeting Street and it was fun to walk through!

I took like 75 pictures but mostly of us girls. We ate at Fleet Landing Friday night and Taco Boy (Folly Beach) Saturday night. Both were EXCELLENT! If there were a Taco Boy in Montgomery we’d be in trouble! It was so fun and so yummy! We made a vow to do this girls trip from now on once a year, so in 2012 we will reunite!

I got home at exactly 4:30 last night, said HI to my family, showered and we headed to church for a 5:30 service. Church again tonight, church dinner tomorrow night and church again Wednesday night followed by Bunko Thursday night. It is our Missions Conference this week so busy busy busy! Jeff did work on a few new AC designs while I was gone, but I haven’t seen them yet. Back to REALITY….

Other exciting news ~ there will be another “event” (meet & greet) in June at TJ’s Fabric. Teresa has invited me to come down for the day and hang out. It will be on a Saturday (date TBA) and she is currently coordinating my visit with her fabric reps. Evidently the fabric reps will be sending some really cool pieces made with their fabrics for everyone to see (and get ideas from). She mentioned bags, pillows and other things being on display for all of you “sewers”. I’m not sure if the items will be for sale or just display; she is working out those details with the reps. I will keep you posted! I might be visiting my parents next week so if I get a chance I may ride over to TJ’s and take some pictures and get more info!

Double Trouble!

As I mentioned in my last post, http://sewhappyblog.blogspot.com/ was behind the Sailboat Patch design! She sent me these pictures of what SHE did with the design and it’s so simple and cute! I’m sure the pin dot is some type of cute jon jon or bubble she whipped up! I envy people who can sew whole outfits…

And now to DOUBLE TROUBLE! While they are not twins, my youngest 2 are 21 months apart and they have a love/fight relationship. They can be playing “babies” one minute, and while I type this the 2 of them are snuggled up in my bed watching cartoons, but they also love to fight, push, hit, whine, tell on each other every 5 minutes and get in to trouble! Last night I found this in my kitchen:

At least they neatly lined up the evidence?? Here is suspect #1 caught in the act (below)! Believe it or not, I washed this dress and it actually came clean! On a side note, do you notice the 7 bangs Sissy has in all her pictures? These are grow-back bangs from where as a small child (seems like forever ago) she got a hold of some scissors and gave herself a little trim. One day they will grow long enough to blend in with the rest of her hair! In the meantime they tend to lay flat on her forehead and drive me crazy!!

“What Strawberries Mommy?”

Suspect #2. Notice the leaf by his foot and the strawberry around his mouth! Nice mug shot G!!

I have gotten very little work done this week! I managed to monogram a couple of things this morning, but have been otherwise shopping and getting ready for a girl’s trip to Charleston, SC! There are 7 of us gals who went to college together who are piling in a Suburban bright and early in the morning to drive to Charleston where we will meet up with another college friend and have a girl’s weekend we’ll never forget! We have discussed this trip for YEARS (every time we meet for dinner when everyone happens to be in town). We are finally making it happen and I can’t wait! I expect my cheeks to hurt by the time we hit Auburn (which is 45 minutes down the interstate). Pray for Jeff as he has the kids to himself all weekend. Luckily nothing is going on, so he technically doesn’t have to go anywhere until church Sunday morning. But, I know they will have a fun weekend and he’ll probably take him here & there and do more fun stuff with them than I would!

Miscellaneous Monday!

Sinus update: the ENT put me on 10 days of antibiotics, a month of steroids (they taper off the last 10 days) and I’m weening myself off of decongestant nose spray one nostril at a time! Yes, people CAN get addicted to it. Not an addiction like ‘I have to have it’, but an addiction as in ‘I can’t breathe without it’ and if you use it enough, your sinuses and nose get addicted and never get better! 🙁 I can only use it on one side until the other side clears up, then I quit cold turkey! So far all is going well and I have only used the nose spray on my bad side last night – none today and none yesterday during the day! HOPEFULLY this will all work (both fingers crossed)!

Here is the sailboat patch (not listed yet). I took this photo inside because it’s late in the day and the sun wasn’t out at the time. I seriously need some type of photography light to take pictures inside! My lighting is HORRIBLE! The sun popped out for a second so I just took another picture and will try again tomorrow for a clear bright picture! Is there such a thing as this light I’m envisioning??

Here is my YIKES moment… this has become naptime in Mallory’s room. I guess playtime in her room (so I can get a little work done) is better than no room time? Sometimes she will crawl in her crib eventually and go to sleep (usually late so when it’s time to get up she is CRANKY!

Today I put her down around 1:30 and heard almost 2 hours of singing (on the above cat piano – thanks Granmommy) and playing. I finally heard her knocking at her own door and she was “let out” at about 3:15. No nap and cranky!!

Here is a shot of the trees in our neighborhood! No wonder we’re all having sinus trouble! They are pretty blooming! The boys think it looks like POPCORN!

Lastly, I cleaned out my bobbin case today and it was YUCKY! A lotta lint!! Sewingmachine.com has a great video on the proper way to oil your bobbin hook (and clean it). You can see the video here: http://www.sewingmachine.com/info/videos_prmaintenance.

That’s about all the randomness I have for today! Our Women’s Retreat was fabulous! I did 4 shirts today and the above sailboat sample. I have lots of work piling up to keep me busy for a few weeks.

House news: We did show it Saturday but nothing to report. We also found out from our realtor that only 5 houses have sold since September in Sturbridge. I don’t know if that is good or bad? There are lots of houses for sale….
