Let it Snow!

Happy Tuesday! As I type this post, it’s 51 degrees in Montgomery (AL). This time last week we were awaiting SNOW. Snow doesn’t happen here very often. The last time it snowed was February 2010. I actually found on my blog that it also snowed a little in March of 2009. Thank goodness for blogs! Anyway, last week it snowed and the kids were out of school for 3 days. We were back in shorts and t-shirts Sunday! Here are some of the photos I took. I think these were taken Wednesday after it finally snowed Tuesday evening (after the kids waited allll dayyyy Tuesday for some flakes). You may have seen or heard of how horrible things were in Birmingham and Atlanta (traffic, people sleeping at work and in schools, etc), but in Montgomery all was well and we were basically stuck at home for 3 days (but all safe)!!

Maggie didn’t mind the snow. At first she tip toed around quickly to do her thing, but seemed to enjoy it.

The kids had the most fun on the trampoline. As you can see, we here in Alabama don’t really have snow clothes. What you see are layers of clothes on them which got soaking wet and all had to be washed 18 times.

A little action shot of Mags.

This is our garage. The icicles came before the snow!

IMG_8732

In the south, we also don’t have sleds or sleighs. These are boogie boards we usually take to the beach every summer. They worked pretty well! Where I live is also pretty flat, but we ventured across the street to the golf course and found a few hills.

This would be a snowed over sand trap.

IMG_8738

Of course everyone in the state of Alabama made a snow angel!

IMG_8741

Even though all the laundry and mess made me a little crazy (and being cooped up inside for 3 days), I know the kids loved every minute of it and will probably never forget the snowball fights with Jeff or “sledding” on the golf course. Yes, that is snot running down Mallory’s nose.

All is back to normal now and the snow is long gone! Not a lot else going on around here other than school and the usual stuff! Valentine’s is next Friday, so we put our Valentine Designs (as well as Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day) on sale. Check them out at Applique Cafe! Have a great week ~ new designs coming soon!

Maggie

Good morning! Jeff & I had a conversation this week about my blog and basically the fact that I need to suck it up and post more, whether it has to do with sewing or not. He has also volunteered to try to help me not only come up with post ideas, but also type some up himself. Stay tuned on that! I can use all the help I can get!!

Let me start out by saying that if you aren’t a dog lover, or if you are afraid of dogs or just don’t like them, go ahead and disregard this post. Move on to Facebook or Pinterest. Don’t read it, because all it contains is dog photos from my phone. There are {embarrassingly} many many many more, but I picked out my favorites to share with you. What can I say? This dog is always near and she’s always doing cute things!! I would NOT have called myself a dog lover a year ago, but last July Jeff & I caved from months upon months of begging from our 3 kids. First we started entertaining the idea of a dog, then did a little research, and then I found MAGGIE! Now I will just show you how cute she is. She is like my 4th child and I adore her, and she also drives me crazy sometimes too.

This was the day I got her. Browder was at summer camp and the other 2 were at my mom’s, so this was a total surprise. She was born in June and we got her in July when she was about 6 weeks old. Look at that face!!!

I had her in my sewing room early! These spools of thread were about her size.

When she got old enough I did puppy training at our local Petsmart. Is it Pets Mart? Or Pet Smart? Anyway, the kids joined me for the last night when Mags was awarded her graduation certificate. She DID learn to sit and a few other tricks. She DID NOT learn how to like other dogs. We are still working on that one.

Now on to the fun stuff! One night I walked in the kitchen and it was as if Maggie was coloring and doing homework with Sissy! She really is like a 4th child.

photo (49)

This is Maggie relaxing on our Costco bear, Chocolate. Our neighbor has fallen asleep on this bear before so I can see where the dog also likes it.

photo (51)

This is what I’m talkin’ about when I say she drives me crazy! For a foofy little white dog, she loves to dig in the dirt, especially 5 minutes before we are supposed to be somewhere.

photo (18)

I can’t stay mad for long! Just look at those eyes!!

photo (54)

All 3 kids adore her, and often fight over her attention.

photo (53)

She is especially cuddly at night.

photo (52)

She’s often found hanging out in my sewing room/office too.

photo (55)

This was before her latest hair cut. Jeff would probably never admit how much he loves Maggie too! Of course he won’t dare take her on a walk and rarely takes her anywhere in his car. His friends might pull his man card you know.

photo (57)

Another snuggly picture.

photo (56)

This was last week after her first “PUPPY CUT”. Again, hanging out in my office {on my chair nonetheless}.

photo (58)

Last Friday we had some serious computer issues, so Jeff was on it trying to fix the problem. Maggie was on it too.

photo (59)

I think this was this past Sunday. We spent some time in the front yard and Mags spent some time with the grass.

photo (60)

This was last night (Jeff’s foot, not mine).

photo (61)

And lastly (thank goodness some of you are saying) this was this morning. She is never far from me! I’ve been fighting “the crud” this week so this morning we spent some time watching The Today Show with a cup of coffee!

photo (62)

I guess writing a whole blog post with nothing but dog pictures qualifies me as a DOG LOVER?? I’m truly embarrassed by all of the pics on my phone of the DOG, but she is just so cute!! Have a great day, and I hope you enjoyed a little of my Maggie!

Rainbow Looms, Dogs and Soccer

Hola! Happy 11th of October and Happy Friday! My kids were off school today and are also off Monday, so we are enjoying a long weekend. I thought I’d post a few photos of what we’ve been up to lately. Literally….

photo (36)

This is the foolishness that goes on every day at my house. ^^^ My oldest child was practicing an interview he did for school the other day. Meanwhile, spidey was scaling the inside of the door frame. Not distracting at all. As you can see, I added another thread rack. Now I have to stand on my tippy toes to reach the top of the rainbow!

Speaking of foolishness… or preciousness. This is our precious Maggie. Hasn’t she gotten big? She is now a like 4 1/2 months old. This was a sweet picture of her from the other night right after I found a plug in her mouth. Unfortunately the rest of the cord was still attached to my Pottery Barn lamp. This is her pink “baby” that she sleeps with every night. Every morning she drags her out of the kennel {her bed} to play.

photo (37)

This was Maggie a few weeks ago. One of many reasons my hair is getting grayer and grayer by the second. She LOVES it outside. She also doesn’t mind sprinklers, cat poop or wandering the neighborhood with me chasing her for an hour.

photo (38)

Maggie & I can be found at Petsmart every week for an hour for Puppy Class. So far she’s learned to *LOOK*, sit, walk on a leash and eat cat poop. We got our underground fence hooked up yesterday, so Maggie & I can also be found out in the yard a lot learning what all the little white flags mean.

We are also “up to” Rainbow Loom bracelets. We are up to 2 looms (and need a 3rd) and 593,490 rubber bands. See our cool organizer below? Don’t waste your money unless your child is OCD. They are all mixed up now and it’s driving me crazy!! Keeping the rubber bands out of the dog’s mouth is fun too.

photo (39)

Lastly…. we are up to SOCCER at our house. My oldest plays travel “club” soccer in town and my middle child plays rec league soccer (and we are headed to a game as soon as I finish this post). Lots of soccer! Little Sissy does gymnastics. That means she does cartwheels all over the soccer field.

That’s about all we have been up to!

This week I created an Instagram account for Applique Cafe! We already have some followers so if you are on IG, find me and follow! Click HERE to get there!! I love Instagram and have been using it for a while now, but haven’t been posting “work stuff” until now. One more thing to keep up with, right??
