Sewing Room Update (Help!!)

Today was our final “wrap up” day at the house. Renovations are D-O-N-E for a while until we do our master bathroom. One of the last things they have been working on is our front door and they finished today. I would say it’s quite an improvement!

This was the cheaper reno alternative to them completely removing the front door to refinish it. Basically they cleaned it and scrubbed it, then re-stained it with a type of Gel Stain. Today they coated it with polyurethane. It looks a ton better! Now that they are done and Jeff has pressure washed the front porch and front walkway, add to our list planters for the front porch. The “list” is 3 miles long and never ends….. You all know what I mean! It. never. ends.

And when you walk in our new front door and take an immediate right, you find our lovely office/sewing room. Not much has changed and I.am.frustrated. I have not been able to commit to hanging anything yet (which also goes for the rest of the house). Love my Expedit cubby and need more baskets. I need to hang my thread, my clock, my stabilizer rack, anything and everything else… We have hung my bulletin board and the TV. That’s it.

Still have fabric in these plastic bins, which is why I need more of the PJAS baskets for the cubby. My 5000M spool thread rack is still on the floor.

Thread stands…. not where they should be! The baskets do house my fabrics and they are organized still in to categories: colors w/ white polka dots (big dots), multi colored dots, pin dots, fat ginghams, regular ginghams, microchecks, boy fabrics, girl fabrics, etc etc etc. I know which basket has which fabric in it and I can also see through the triangle handle.

It’s hard to tell time when your clock is hiding in a basket. My stabilizer rack/shelf thingy is still resting on my tool chest.

Still got the old dining room chairs with red cushions. Jeff has nothing hung over his desk. His golf ball collection sits on the floor.

HELP!!!! What do I need to do?? When I’m faced with so many little projects, I tend to freeze up and avoid doing anything! I painted this room white so it would be a clean slate. I would use thread and fabric and all that fun sewing stuff to color the room, or that’s what I told myself. I’ve had my eye on these fabrics (from Joann), but what would I do with them?

Help!!!! Any suggestions?? The hours spent on Pinterest have not helped me. I just keep pinning things and then realize how un-crafty I am. Do I need to call HGTV? TLC? Is Trading Spaces still a show? help…..

Sample Tees

I did several tees for a local overstock sale a couple of weeks ago and we had a few left! They are all $14 ~ contact me if interested and about any personalization or shipping which would be a little extra! I know Halloween is Monday, but pumpkin tees go great through Thanksgiving!

Auburn Alabama game tee? Or House Divided! Contact me about adding any personalization (War Eagle or Roll Tide)!

Peace on Earth ~ this is a great Christmas tee for older boys who might be “over” any cutesy Santa tee!

Also, I was at Walmart this morning and noticed in the TODDLER section, the same Sherpa lined Hoodies like my previous post in girl colors ~ light pink, bright purple and black. I looked for them online but it would not let me save the photo of the pink one but here is the link: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Faded-Glory-Baby-Girls-Sherpa-Lined-Hoodie/16621969. The light pink one was cute and would be great with a monogram added. I think they were only $12.97. I didn’t look for them in the youth girls section and I didn’t notice if they had toddler boys, but check them out next time you are at Walmart!

I’m off to sample new CHRISTMAS designs for Applique Cafe!

p.s. While at the Holiday Market a week or so ago I met a girl there who is a friend of the girl I was shopping with. She has 2 daughters, one of which goes to Browder’s school. Anyway, last week one morning I got a text that her other 3 year old daughter, Karlie, had been airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham the night before because her kidneys were failing. Long story short she is still in Birmingham and in critical condition due to a rare disease/bacteria (called HUS) that attacked her kidneys and blood stream. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Karlie (even though I don’t know her) because I have my own 3 year old at home and couldn’t imagine her being this sick. I’ve been thinking of her and her parents, and praying for them every time I think about them and see a new post on Facebook. I also figured out today that Karlie’s mom was evidently a sorority sister of mine! I don’t remember her and I’m guessing she was younger than me. Anyway, please say a prayer for Karlie! I’ve seen her Facebook page grow from around 400 members the day I got the text to almost 3,000 today! Prayer is so powerful and you’ll be amazed at how strong her parents are being knowing Karlie is in God’s hands! Here is a link to her page ~ Praying for Karlie. THANKS!

Walmarts with an “s”

As a follow up to my pho-tog post the other day, here is a pic of Sissy helping me take a picture of the new Zig Zag Turkey (tested, but not yet listed). It was late in the afternoon so I had her lay the onesie across her chest so I could take a picture with the design in good sunlight!

And now to my Walmart finds! I swear you can add a monogram to poo-poo and make it look good. I got these hooded zip jackets at Walmart a couple of weeks ago, and of course added my boys initials for a throw-on cool weather jacket. I’m not sure how much the jacket was? $14.97 maybe? They both wore them Friday to school. I found 1 wadded up on the floorboard of Jeff’s car and the other wadded up on the floorboard of my car after school. They take such great care of their clothes…

What I like about these sweatshirt jackets is that they have a very thick, soft, warm lining in them.

Pretty good quality little jacket from Walmarts!

I also got Garrison this camo long sleeved t-shirt for maybe 5 bucks. I got like 7 long sleeve t-shirts in a variety of colors (Faded Glory and Hanes) but he was most excited about this one, and of course I monogrammed it. He is 5 and not clothes picky, so he will still wear shirts that are monogrammed (and even some that are appliqued). I still have a stack of tees to “do” for him ~ brown, green, orange, white, etc.

Not too exciting of a post (sorry folks), but be on the lookout at Walmart (and Targette of course) for simple items you can monogram! Other good sources ~ Old Navy, Belk, JCPenney… Boys are hard too because everything else you see has bling or super heroes all over them. I love when I find plain stuff!

Last night Jeff & I had a fantastic date night. The kids spent the night with his parents, so we were able to make a trip to Target, dinner at one (of three) of our fave mexican restaurants (which happen to have live music which was fun) and we went to see the movie “Courageous“, which is a GREAT movie! It’s a must see for parents (and specifically fathers)! Take some kleenex. After that we got some ice cream/italian ice at Nancy’s and this morning we got to sleep in stay in bed past 6:30! I was actually awake by 7 but managed to pretend I was sleeping until about 8:30. We are having a few friends over to watch the Auburn/LSU game shortly so my kids are ready in their AU jerseys and M has on her cheerleader outfit. Have a great weekend (and dare I say “WAR EAGLE”!!)
