My Embroidery Machine Stand

I posted these pictures on Facebook a week or two ago when someone asked me about my stand. First of all, my machine is a Brother PR-650 “Entrepreneur” 6-needle Embroidery Machine. I got it from Sewingmachine.com and I LOVE it! The only thing better would be a 10 needle… Anyway, it didn’t come with a stand and I ended up getting this Craftsman tool chest from Sears. I think this is it? HERE They shipped it to the store and I picked it up there and it was less than $100. It works GREAT and has lots of STORAGE! It also has wheels (which lock). We have wheeled it in to my closet a time or two so the wheels actually come in handy.

As you can see it’s turned sideways, but is the perfect width of the machine with the drawers to the side. Yes, that is my wedding photo in the background… almost 10 years ago that photo was made (May 12, 2001)!!

I had a lot of people ask if it vibrated, and the answer is “a little”, but no more than it would on a regular table or stand. This chest is very heavy, especially with the weight of the machine and all of the *stuff* in the drawers. They are full of hoops, extra stabilizer, etc. As you can see below 3 sides of the chest have a lip, so the machine is not going anywhere!

I love the storage! I keep the majority of my supplies in these drawers. The top drawer is full of all of my hoops. The other drawers are full of fast frames, heat N bond lite (my 8 rolls), stabilizer, my bobbins and other embroidery supplies.

So…. this is my stand (and my machine)!! I love them both dearly. Oh, did I mention you CAN lock the drawers. I don’t know why you would, but the chest came with a key.

Ever just need to start over?

I believe we are back among the living! Everyone appears to be well and 98% back to normal. Still waiting on that 2% from a couple of us but we’re getting there. In the FYI category… we’re still tweaking a couple of things here & there and pretty soon my blog will be accessible from the website since the website is accessible from the blog (“visit my store” tab up top). When this happens you’ll see the “Blog” link as below. I also need to add the “Follow me on Twitter” link to the blog somewhere near the Facebook button. I’m up to 22 followers thus far BTW. AND, I’m still categorizing old posts. This happens when I have time and think about it and maybe eventually they will all be in a category making it easier to find stuff. In the meantime, you can always use the SEARCH feature to look for old posts on specific topics (i.e., hooping).

I will admit I’ve been in a decongestant fog most of the week. I did this burp cloth and it just didn’t turn out like I wanted it to. I don’t know what I was thinking with the fabrics (??) and then I didn’t iron the applique right and ironed a wrinkle in the Angel’s body. I guess the fabrics aren’t so bad? Just a little too bright and not what I had envisioned for a sweet little angel! I blame the Mucinex (Maximum Strength). I think too I struggled with finding 3 fabrics that coordinated, and then realized I liked it much better with only 2 (see next photo).

Isn’t this much better? Much softer and not too busy!

I buy my burp cloths from Embroider This. They are great burp cloths – nice and flat and the middle space between the 2 inseams is a good 4.5-5″ so plenty of room for an applique. I buy the 4×6 ply and they are nice and thick as well. They are easy to hoop too!

I will try to post more regularly and have some great ideas for post topics related to applique. Hopefully all will stay well this week so I can get some work done too. Have a great rest-of-the-weekend!

Anyone ready for Spring?

We have been under the weather this week to say the least! Mallory started it a week ago and “it” hit me, Jeff (while in Utah on a ski trip), Browder and Garrison all in a week’s time. Everyone missed a day of school! We all know Mommy does not have time to be sick! I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I had a touch of Bronchitis and gave me a few meds including a Zpack. I took said meds last night (on an empty stomach) and barely made it through dinner. One was an anti-nausea medicine because all of the congestion was making me sick. I don’t recommend taking it before the sun goes down or on an empty stomach! I literally passed out at 7:00 and didn’t hear a thing that went on after that! Feeling better today. We have been the poster family for:

I added 5 new designs to Applique Cafe yesterday and they are all featured on the home page. I have some posts ideas and will work on a new post ASAP!

My blog will soon be a link on the website and I also created a Twitter account today (or Jeff did). If you are a Twitter person, you can find me under AppliqueCafe! I’ll be adding a button here soon as well. I’d like to use it to post info on new designs, sales, blog posts, etc. I am not 100% sure about how it all works, but it sounds like a good idea for 2011?
